Associate Vice-President, Equity and Inclusion

As a member of the President’s and Provosts’ leadership teams, the Associate Vice-President, Equity and Inclusion, serves as UBC’s senior most “cabinet-level diversity officer” (CDO), responsible for overseeing the university’s Equity & Inclusion Offices and championing strategic, pan-institutional equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) priorities across both Vancouver and Okanagan campuses.

Director, Institutional Initiatives

Elsie provides strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation support for EIO initiatives to enhance utility and accessibility, build capacity, and facilitate collective learning.

Director, Human Rights (Interim)
Campus:

Jay responds to human rights concerns raised by members of the UBC community.

Interim Director, Education, Partnership and Engagement
Campus:

Maï has 13 years of experience as a faculty member in conservation at a small teaching-focused university. Within various leadership roles (eg. Head of Social Sciences) she chaired the first diversity and equity committee, helped develop faculty hiring policies, revised faculty review processes, developed admissions procedures, hired and mentored faculty and taught over 50 student-centered and engaging classes. Her degrees are in Zoology (Oxford) and Geography (UVic) and her post-doc was at UBC in the Institute for Oceans and Fisheries.

Equity Education Strategist
Campus:

Jenica Frisque is passionate about fostering inclusion at UBC Okanagan through the delivery and facilitation of programs, and conversations that raise awareness of and embed the values of equity, diversity, intercultural understanding and mutual respect in the fabric of the campus and the wider community.

Inclusion Project Assistant

Manish coordinates and leads the Equity Ambassadors volunteer program at the UBCO Equity & Inclusion Office, as well as support workshop facilitation & Queer Orientation.

Student Network Assistant (Work Learn)

Diana is a second-year Faculty of Arts student. In the past, she helped create administrative policy and other materials focused on equity and inclusion within her previous school. As an Indonesian, trans, first-generation immigrant, her areas of interest are queer issues, people of color and immigrant experiences, and the intersection between the two. Her current work involves supporting EIO projects in various capacities.

Lucy provides strategic support with primary responsibility for the research, development, implementation and analysis of diversity related to the student experience within the Faculty of Arts.

Working in partnership with a number of colleagues across the institution, Roshni provides information, support, referrals and resources to members of the UBC community who believe they may have a human-rights based discrimination or harassment concern.

In the Administration Manager role, Theresa is responsible for providing confidential executive administrative and operation support to the Associate Vice-President (AVP), and works closely with senior members of the Equity & Inclusion Office (EIO).
